As a society, we often think of heroes in a multitude of contexts. Those a bit more vocal tend to place heroism unto those who risk their lives in order to protect others - service men and women, first responders and security units. Other acts of heroics come from civilians in times of need - those who give openly, preserve integrity and stand up for the great good of the community. There is one hero, however, who we may often forget to categorize as such: Mom. Not your average superhero, the mothers and mother figures across the world are the silent, subtle and up-close superheros we know and love.

Can’t find the butter in the refrigerator? Wish someone was there to cheer you on for your attempts and successes? Need a hug or home cooked meal? Mom is there to save the day before you’re even aware it needs saving. Whether it’s instilling the value of money in you or allowing you space to learn from your mistakes, the mothers of the world continuously make a positive impact on all of us. What is more heroic than that?

Unlike those heroes on the movie screens or the men and women who are more obviously recognized for their selfless acts, moms are often left without undying gratitude. In order to ensure these important women receive thanks for all that they do, you can say, “Thank you” to your mom (or a mother figure in your life) through a short video here.

They may not be dressed in capes or jumping from burning buildings, but their everyday love, protection and efforts more than classify mothers as superheros. Thanks, moms!
